Crucifers – The Order of the Rule of the Cross

Leading men to prayer, strength, and greatness

The Ordo Crucis Regulae — the Order of the Rule of the Cross — is a brotherhood of Catholic men striving to live by a standard of life called the Rule of the Cross. Simply we call ourselves Crucifers, bearers of the Cross.

Our aim is threefold:

  • First, to lead men into deeper prayer and a sacramental life that goes beyond the minimum obligation.
  • Second, to cultivate strength — of body, mind, and will — so that we may meet the challenges of our state in life with readiness and courage.
  • Third, to pursue greatness — not as the world defines it, but as the Church calls us to: holiness, leadership, and magnanimity in service to others.

At the heart of the Crucifer identity are the virtues of Piety, Prowess, and Magnanimity — the higher names for the very things Christian men seek after finding God in the Sacraments.

The Rule of the Cross

Crucifix. Rule. Piety. Prowess. Magnanimity.

  1. Carry a crucifix. Bear it visibly as a standard for the world to see.
  2. Live by a written Rule of Life, tailored to your vocation and state in life.
  3. Pray daily and live sacramentally, above and beyond the minimum.
  4. Remain prepared — physically fit, mentally sharp, and equipped to meet duty and crisis alike.
  5. Strive for humble greatness — not for your own glory, but to elevate those around you.

Joining

Auxiliary Members

Anyone may join the path of the Crucifer as an Auxiliary.
To do so:

  • Wear a crucifix daily.
  • Perform a short, pious act of devotion before the crucifix each day.
  • Join our mailing list and participate in events where possible.

Auxiliaries are companions and supporters in the life of the Order — fellow travelers drawn to the light of the Cross.

Pages and Squires

Young men may enter formation as Pages or Squires of the Order.

  • A Page is a boy of at least 9 years old, under the guidance of his father or a full member, learning the habits of the Rule through example and participation. Pages may earn awards and wear the uniform of the Order.
  • A Squire is an adolescent or young man undergoing structured formation to one day become a Knight. Squires keep a personal journal, undertake quests and missions, and practice leadership, skill-building, and spiritual discipline. Their path is one of intentional growth toward Christian manhood.

Knights

A Knight of the Crucifers lives the Rule to its fullest expression. Knights form the backbone of the Order — men entrusted with guiding others, building households, and anchoring our mission in the world.

Each Knight:

  • Leads by example in prayer, prowess, and magnanimity.
  • Helps form Pages and Squires in the way of the Rule.
  • Strives continually for personal sanctity, family leadership, and strength in service.

A Knight’s greatness is not his own. It is a gift forged at the foot of the Cross — meant to bless his family, his community, and his fellow men.

Knights are called to lead an recognized Household of the Order, bringing their families and dependents under the same Rule and banner of the Cross.
